Software Available for Home Use
What can you download and install on your own personal machines?
UCL has a number of licensed applications that allow home use.
The list of applications is available at: https://swdb.ucl.ac.uk/?filter=home%20use
Note: Not all of this applications are totally free, or available to everyone. Some are only available to students, and some allow you to install on a home PC if you purchase a license for a UCL owned PC. The free to use applications that are of most interest to Electronic & Electrical Engineering staff and students are:
- AutoCAD
- Mathematica
- Matlab
- Origin Pro
- Solidworks (For UG/MSc Teaching and Learning only. This can not be used for research)
- Labview (this also includes multisim)
Anti-Virus
We would also strongly recommend that if you do not currently have a anti-virus product installed, that has an up to date subscription, that you download and install WithSecure (available for Windows, MacOS and Linux).
Free Microsoft Software
You can also get access to some free Microsoft software (Windows operating systems, Visio, etc) as part of UCL's Azure Dev Tools for Teaching subscription.
